The experience in the “wilderness” by the church of God was to nourish and separate her from the corrupting influence of the false church the serpent was using to destroy faith in the Bible. The physical and spiritual location of God’s true church in the time of the dark ages placed her away from centralized evil that is prevalent in large cities. Hence the reality of the earth swallowing up the flood of ungodly individuals for whom it is not worth their time to be living in such secluded locations. Lastly we see that the dragon got upset over his methods failing to stop the church, and he has now concentrated his effort against the last day church, the remnant who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ, by having them step off their “commandment and testimony” experience and having them centralize themselves in large cities where corrupting influences can overthrow them. God’s people where not to be centralized in large cities; this was never God’s plan.
Revelation12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child].
12:14And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
12:15And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
12:16And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
12:17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
